File Desk (“the app”) is an offline file manager for Android developed by LiveApp. This policy explains how your information is handled. In short: everything stays on your device.

No data collection

File Desk does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The app has no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no user accounts. It works entirely offline.

Your files and storage access

To work as a file manager, File Desk requests broad storage access (Android’s “All files access” permission) so it can browse, open, and manage the files and folders on your device. All of this happens locally on your device. Your files and their contents are never read by, uploaded to, or shared with the developer or any third party.

Encrypted Vault (optional)

If you use the Vault, files you add are encrypted on your device with AES-256 using a password you choose. The password is never stored or transmitted and cannot be recovered by us — if you forget it, the files cannot be opened. Vault contents stay on your device.

File Server (optional)

File Desk includes an optional File Server that, only while you turn it on, shares a folder you choose over your local network so you can transfer files to and from other devices — over FTP or from any web browser (for example, your own computer on the same Wi-Fi). This traffic stays on your local network and goes directly between your devices; it is never routed through, or visible to, the developer. The connection is unencrypted, so only use it on networks you trust. The server runs only while you keep it switched on.

File Transfer (optional)

File Desk includes an optional File Transfer feature for sending files to, and receiving them from, another nearby device that also has File Desk. Transfers go directly between the two devices — over your shared Wi-Fi network, Wi-Fi Direct, or a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi “Nearby” link — and are never routed through, stored by, or visible to the developer. Each transfer must be accepted on the receiving device and confirmed with a matching PIN.

Remote Connections (optional)

File Desk can connect to your own remote servers — over FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, or SMB — to browse and transfer files. The connection details you enter, including any username and password, are stored only on your device (in the app’s private storage) so you don’t have to re-enter them; they are never transmitted to, or accessible by, the developer. When you open a connection, the app communicates directly between your device and the server you specified — on your local network or over the internet — and this traffic is never routed through, or visible to, the developer. Plain FTP is unencrypted, so prefer SFTP, or WebDAV/SMB over secure connections, where possible.

In-app purchases

Premium is an optional one-time purchase via Google Play Billing. Google Play handles the entire transaction; the app receives only a yes/no signal indicating whether you own Premium. Payment details and your Google account identity are never visible to the developer. Google’s handling of purchase data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Optional debug logs

The About page includes a “Share debug logs” option. When you tap it, the app collects a recent on-device diagnostic log for File Desk only (about 500 lines, plus your app version, Android version, and device model) and opens the standard share sheet so you can send it to us if you’re reporting an issue. It does not log your file names, paths, contents, or personal data. Nothing is sent automatically; this only does anything when you explicitly tap the button and choose where to send the file.

Permissions

All files access is used to browse and manage your files. Install unknown apps is used only when you choose to install an APK you tapped. Notifications are used to show the File Server’s and File Transfer’s status while they are running. Network and Wi-Fi access are used for the optional File Server, File Transfer, and Remote Connections, and to show your local address. To discover and connect to a nearby device for File Transfer, the app uses nearby-device permissions — the Nearby Wi-Fi devices and Bluetooth permissions on newer Android versions, or location permission on older ones. These are used solely to find and connect to the other device during a transfer; your location is never collected, stored, or used for tracking.

Data deletion

Uninstalling the app removes the app and its private settings. Files you created, moved, copied, or extracted on your device’s storage remain on the device (that is the nature of a file manager) and can be deleted by you at any time — including the app’s hidden trash and vault folders.

Children

File Desk is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
